AutoDirector sets an upload limit of 2MB (see the UPLOADSIZELIMIT in autodirector.ini). AutoDirector will try to configure PHP so that limit is used, but it's success will depend on your web host's settings.
However, uploading large files will always be problematical. Even though you may have a 2Mb broadband connection, upload speeds are significantly less - usually around 80% slower. Although you might see a blank page, it's likely that the file's still uploading.
I would recommend that you shrink image files before uploading. Applications such as
XnView can batch process hundreds of images at a time. You can reduce the resolution and sharpen every image within minutes.
Adjusting images on your PC before uploading is generally quicker and more efficient than uploading to the server and having it resize there.
Saying that, image uploads could be easier in AutoDirector so we'll be looking at it.
