Craig,

I'm having problems with changing the username. It keeps saying a problem has occurred. I've tried changing the chmod of the ini file and this doesn't work.

I'm at a loss and I'm so sorry if I've missed anything obvious.

Hi Matt,

Which "username" are you referring to? Is it the database or an AutoDirector account? When does the problem occur (installation?) and what is the error message?

If it's the database, then it's probably not the username that's at fault, but the MySQL permissions. See the GRANT information in !install.html.

We do offer an AutoDirector installation service for £40. Please contact me if you continue to experience problems.

Hi Craig,

The username I'm referring to is the default super@user.acc...
Sorry, I don't want to write the whole thing, but I'm sure you get the gist...

I'll have a look at the file you suggested and see if I can fix the problem using that. I've installed it no problem and it looks amazing. Taking my site to a whole new level and I'm really pleased so far. I'm very nearly ready to go live and I'm sure you'll be surprised when you see it!

Thanks for your help and support Craig.

Success!

I just edited it within the database myself.... stupid, stupid move but it worked.

Database closed, not to be messed with again, sweaty brow, clenching of the sphinx and we're done.

Thanks again Craig, and for the record I wouldn't suggest anyone else be as irresponsible as me to fix this problem.

I suspect that you may not have full permissions on the 'users' table within your SQL database. That's the only reason I can think of why an update wouldn't occur?

Glad you have sorted it out, although you may experience problems adding new users?

I think you're right about the 'users' permissions, but as it's just me that's going to be messing with the database and site updates at the moment, I'm happy with that.

If the time comes that I trust anyone enough to mess with that aspect, I'll seek advice!

Thanks again, you really are a great help.
